Journal Citation Reports - edition 2025

jcr 2025Clarivate has published the 2025 edition of the Journal Citation Reports, featuring the 2024 Journal Impact Factor and other metrics for over 22,000 journals classified into 254 categories. Among these, as a new development since last year, are 7,500 journals in the Social Sciences and 3,300 in the Arts and Humanities.

Articles published by ICMAB in 137 journals with a 2024 impact factor have achieved an average impact factor of 9.4, a significant improvement over the 2023 average of 7.7.

Of these 137 journals, 55 have seen a decrease in their impact factor compared to the previous year, while 71 have increased. Additionally, 24 journals have dropped a quartile compared to 2023, and 7 have moved up.

Among those that have dropped a quartile are ACS Applied Electronic Materials, APL Materials, Biomaterials Science, CrystEngComm, Journal of Materials Chemistry B, and Materials, which have gone from Q1 to Q2; and Advanced Optical Materials, Journal of Alloys and Compounds, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Materials Horizons, Progress in Neurobiology, Small Science, and Small Structures, which remain in Q1 but are no longer in the top decile (D1).

Journals that have moved up a quartile include Dalton Transactions and Journal of Chemical Education, which have gone from Q2 to Q1; and Bioorganic Chemistry and Pharmaceutics, which have gone from Q1 to D1.
